Cheap Leaflet Printing is an affordable yet effective way to promote your event, business or service. Today we are all having to work harder to get our message across and with such a wide variety of marketing media available it is often hard to decide where or how to spend your advertising budget.
Printed literature such as posters, teasers, flyers or brochures are still very effective marketing method, executed well they can really boost sales. Today we are going to focus on leaflets and how you can maximise your budget.

Firstly lets look at the most common sizes and how the costs change in relation to size, this will help you choose the right size for your next promotional campaign. We are going to look at 4 different sizes starting with a size that most people will be familiar with which is A4, this is the same size as a standard letter in the UK. It is probably the largest size that I would put in this category, it also has the largest advertising area for you to promote your product or service. The remaining 3 sizes are all relational to A4 in size, the next being A5 which is half of an A4 sheet, then DL which is a third of an A4 the same size as compliment slip and lastly A6 which is half of an A5 or a quarter of A4. Hopefully this will give you a good reference to size when looking at cost. Outlined below are the size specifications for each size.
Standard Sizes (Portrait)
• A4 – 297 x 210mm
• A5 – 210 x 148mm (half of an A4)
• DL – 99 x 210mm (1/3 of an A4)
• A6 – 148 x 105mm (1/4 of an A4)
The next thing we are going to look at is cost in relation to size, this will give you and idea of budgets, for this exercise we will look at prices based upon print in full colour to both sides on a standard 130gsm gloss art paper and are inclusive of delivery to 1 x UK mainland address, the prices used are based upon an average taken from 10 independent online print companies.
Standard Costs (Based upon UK Pounds)
500 copies 1,000 copies and 5,000 copies
• A4 185.00 205.00 300.00
• A5 105.00 110.00 165.00
• DL 90.00 95.00 130.00
• A6 65.00 70.00 90.00
Quite clearly the smaller the size the smaller the cost, with 5,000 A6′s representing excellent value for money at just £90.00, whilst the A4 size offers a much larger advertising area as an average you could afford to promote your business or service 3 times for the same money by using the A6 size.
Note the prices above have been obtained from online print companies, rather than your traditional print company. There is a reason for this, the online print companies work in a different way enabling them to get their prices as low as possible.
The internet has enable businesses to reach people that traditionally they would have been able to service or sell to, there would be little point in a printing company trying to sell its services to a mechanic in Scotland. The internet and technology have now made this possible, we are able to communicate via email with people all over the world, we can also transfer large files via FTP or file delivery services such as you send it.
This has enabled companies to take a large sheet of paper for example an SRA2 sheet which in size is (450x640mm) and then divide this into smaller sections say A6, of which you will get 16 x A6 slots on 1 sheet of SRA2 paper, if the print company then prints 5,000 sheets of SRA2 he will get 16 x £90.00 (£1440.00) for his print run which makes it profitable for the printer and affordable for the consumer.
The leaflets can then be trimmed, boxed and distributed to the respective clients. The trick here for the print company is getting 16 people to place orders for leaflets at the same time. This where the internet comes in, these companies will be running various online advertising campaigns to bring in their orders, this is quite an expensive process so its not all profit for printer. This is also why you will find the cost varies depending on how quickly you require your order, there will often be a premium to pay if you require your print order in 24 hours, on the flip side you can get better discounts if you can wait up to 10 days.
I hope you find the above information helpful and helps you understand how this type of service works and how you can make it work for you! The internet has really changed not only the way that we puchase products or services it has also changed the way that we negotiate prices with businesses that we trade with. A little time spent researching the product or service that you are looking for can pay huge dividends in the long run.
Remember to also look at where the company is located, there are many online solutions that are based around Europe yet advertise and promote their services in the UK market, often using a UK based appearance or ‘.co.uk’ web url to try and make you feel that you are dealing with a UK based company. Whilst the products that these companies produce are often more than acceptable in terms of the quality, the customer service side of things can be a little more difficult. If you print knowledge is good and you are confident on how you have created your artwork files then using these off shore companies should be fine, however if you are looking for a company to hold your hand and advise you on what you are looking for, then make contact with the company before placing your order and feel comfortable with person you are communicating with, in the long term you are looking to build a relationship with your supplier that will benefit your company.
